Editorial Policy
Our standard is simple: every rule must trace back to an official source you can check.
Sources We Accept
Permit office web pages, municipal and state codes, official forms and fee schedules, and official open data portals. We prefer .gov sources and do not rely on contractor blogs or forums for rules.
How We Verify
- Read the permit office's current rule and record the source URL and the date checked.
- Summarise it in plain English without adding exemptions the source does not state.
- Publish a fee only when we found it on an official page; otherwise we state that the fee is not yet verified.
- Publish a city project page only when the rule is verified and the city issued at least 10 matching permits in the last 12 months.
Review
Placeholder A named reviewer with relevant, verifiable experience will be listed here and on each page. We will not publish invented names, credentials or licence numbers.
Updates
Permit data refreshes weekly. Rules are rechecked at least every six months and whenever a reader reports a change. Each page shows its last-updated date.
Corrections
Email hello@homepermitguide.com. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly.
Independence
Contractor introductions and waitlist revenue never influence what a rule page says.
